Master's Project: Cellular Self-Organization

  • Worked on a system to automate structure design
  • Used graphs and physics simulations to autonomously define and evaluate design
  • Did nearly all of the work in a project funded for both a PhD student and a Master's student
  • Required learning and application of object-oriented programming, specifically C#

Sustainable Product Design: Umbrella Project

  • Worked on a multidisciplinary team to produce a product proposal
  • Used a variety of sustainability tools to analyze designs
  • Created CAD drawings, animations and renders (primarily SolidWorks)
  • Conducted customer interviews, ethnographic studies, market research and patent searches

Freelance Project: Video Wall Redesign

  • Redesigned an existing device: an array of TVs used as a meeting and presentation display
  • Designed, manufactured and assembled the device
  • Created CAD models and drawings for manufacturing, design and as part of a pitch
  • Required mediating multiple professors wants and needs to create a finished product that satisfied all parties

Modern Product Design: Bingo Machine

  • Designed and built a new bingo machine to replace Willamette Valley Rehabilitation Center's existing one
  • Collected customer needs etc. from various individuals including the people with disabilities at WVRC
  • Acted as team leader, and oversaw both manufacture and administration

Senior Project: Spore Collection Device

  • Created a device for use by the USDA to be used in vineyard pathology studies
  • Worked as a member of a team to turn technical requirements into a device
  • Created CAD models both for design and part manufacture, was involved in the manufacturing process
  • Created a report detailing the process and providing drawing and manufaturing plans to the customer
  • Finished the project significantly under budget, and was considered the most successful project of our class
